Project Description:

As a subcontractor to URS Corporation, ADH assisted International Aluminum Corporation with the development or updating of Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) for two door and window manufacturing facilities.

Scope of Services:

ADH was tasked to perform the following work:

  • Perform reviews of existing storm water-related documents for each facility
  • Conduct site inspections at each facility
  • Evaluate current SWPPPs and BMPs, if existing
  • Develop a relevant, up-to-date SWPPP for each facility

Facility and Regulations Review

For this task, ADH staff members reviewed existing Environmental Site Assessments and other relevant documentation, as well as perform independent research on applicable federal or state stormwater-related regulations or guidelines for each facility.

Site Inspection

ADH conducted site visits at each facility for the following tasks:

  • Introductory guided tours of each facility
  • Independent walk-through inspections and photo documentation at each facility
  • Thorough evaluations of existing BMPs
  • Identification of additional BMPs requiring implementation
  • Investigations of potential storm water runoff influences from adjacent properties
  • Concise debriefings with facility environmental program directors

ADH staff members prepared or updated site-specific SWPPPs for each facility. They ensured that each SWPPP was thorough in its site evaluations and recommendations regarding existing or lacking BMPs. Emphasis was also put on clearly conveying the regulatory basis and rational for each document, and on its readability so that it was a valuable resource for all facility staff members.
